I had just come in from a dinner date and picking up my son when I turned on the tv just as the news was announcing that the Princess had passed away. What a sad end to such a beautiful person. I do think that Elton John should have had another song for her and not the leftovers from the Marilyn Monroe song. thank you for posting this.

i remember watching it on tv.

watching the whole thing it was just too sad..it must be one of tho big event where u feel united..i think.

we had a week lead up to the event,...

in contrast when the queen mum died it was like "ok"

It was the most watched funeral of the XX century. People from all over the world watched the whole funeral. It was a moment of true grief with a deep sense of loss. She was the most beloved princess of the world. That was her power: love. One year later, when with my friends we were smoking cigarettes we felt ashmed for smoking Diana sigarettes, it was a mournful sign of sorrow.

Think about this....2 wonderful things came out of diana and charles failed marriage and they are called william and harry. she would have been so proud of william last friday.

@Cynbad63 Elton did the best he could. Through all his grief and lack of time, he didn't have a chance to write a new song for Diana. I am proud of him for being able to keep his composure while singing the song. He was heart broken, it must have been extremely difficult for him. This was one of the saddest days ever!

The reason Elton sang that song is because they didnt give him enough of a notice before the funeral, so that was what he had time for.

@ravendofthemist No it was a speeding car driven by an intoxicated driver which caused her death. Lots of IF's such as if she had worn a seat belt or if she had made a better choice of companion or if she hadn't baited the press but life is full of if only's It is better to think of the legacy left behind
