Hey friends this is another renaissance masterpiece that wasn't here on you tube when i initially searched for it and i thought i should upload. This one in particular was rly hard for me to find.I searched for it in torrents but the only songs by caccini i could find were his most famous ones, Amarilli mia bella and Ave Maria.I finally used my uberware to hack it down from a website that offered a streaming version.Kinda sucky interpretetion though. The rly good ones are at the online catalog of naxos.I tried to hack that site but i couldnt!!!But sooner or later ima rip that site appart and download every last byte it has to offer.Prolly create a torrent with the whole collection too.Anyways enjoy the primo singing.Go with Christ!
@jhknight17 You are correct in your assessment HOWEVER, this composer and piece are late Renaissance. This piece is very innovative and introductory of the early style of Baroque music. It embodies everything that Baroque would become from the figured bass and continuo to the swift changes in tonality. Cacinni, a singer himself, wrote out the diminutions and ornaments that he wanted to see implemented, which led to what we call Baroque. Continue your quest for Musical knowledge!!!

@jhknight17 This piece was composed in 1590. The very start of the baroque era.

This is baroque, not renaissance. The decoration the voice does should give that away easily. And considering We're studying early baroque music in my music history class, and this song was specifically requested of our class to study, I don't think my teacher is wrong.

beautiful, completely agree with Heismyall1 except that I like the trillo arnament to accelerate a little more, but that's personal taste and I certainly can't justify that destroying a perfect performance

Lovely voice, Beautifully performed ornaments and melismas with good control. Good balance between the voice and accompanying instrument. Emotionally satisfying. I enjoyed it very much, so much so, I had to hit the replay button.

If you want to hear this song really shine, listen to Stephan Van Dyck sing it on: "Caccini: Amor Che Fai?"

the voice is nice alright but Italian (and French) baroque music is based on the close communion between music and words which is necessary to convey the full musical meaning of the piece.
here the singer has a bad diction and no expression at all: therefore it is all very nice and meaningless

I dislike the interpretation, but this gem has long been one of my favourites!
