He's the best because of his subtle touches. He's not as fast or as purely technical as someone like Weckl or Coleman or Chambers, but the inflections he has in his playing are simply genius, no one else plays with such grace.

It's ridiculous to try to assert who is the "best" drummer alive, given all the greats that are out there.
But Gavin is the best drummer alive.

The best drummer in the best band of progressive nowdays. It's just my opinion. He just reach new levels of how to put fills in the right place at the right time with a perfect technique.

@IMSA28 I think he's happy where he is now. But I can totally picture a new DT album with Gavin on the drums. It would sound incredible. But then again, Gavin has the capability to do that to any song. But I think his style & personality go perfectly with Porcupine Tree.
