@ECJim3 Yep, It's "Martian Space Party," and it's a mess. (Apparently the people who shot it decided that they could edit better than the 4 or 5 could write and perform.) Still, when it works it's as sublime as anything they ever did.

I'm not certain, but I think this clip may be from their 1972 short film, "Martian Space Party". Its content overlaps with the Firesign Theater album, "Not Insane".

What film is this clip from?

@smpaudio Back in the Old Days, there was a LOT of weed going on, although in later years, around the end of the 70s it disappeared. It certainly influenced them during their Columbia Records period. But as we found out with the Beatles, the weed won't make you creative, you have to be that way on your own. These guys can still write and perform as well as they ever did.

I was wrong: That's Phil Austin after a quick costume change. Oops!

Peter Bergman looks like Bob Dylan in this clip.

The Dear Friends radio shows were fueled by blackberry brandy and cheeseballs. The recording studio proper was always approached as a combination of Art and Work.

@charterloungeparty Cool story! Never met anyone who knew these guys. So the real question: how much weed did these guys smoke??? I imagine them to be like the Grateful Dead of comedy. In fact I've never listened to them straight. Peace, baby, groovy and out.
