Norman Lear naturally would not allow Archie to allow the religion of the international bankers.

@M14Mann There is a flip side of this, being that it was quite a witty show. The mispronunciation was intentional, adding dimension to the character and the role he is to fill. An armed citizenry is laughed at as an intend reaction by the actors/screen writers. Archie is unique as a character though similar to others. His character comprised of common stereotypes and hysterical viewpoints on topics. Generally one sided to contrast the opposite sided co-cast. Could be sheep's clothing or humor.

@CUALL8R couldn't be done today because of censorship...everyone would be suing and bitching and moaning.
Sad that all the things he talked about are happening...

@carl22069 it funny no matter your view on guns! But yes in a less idiotic way Archie bunker is correct, especially the part about the communist.
Now should everbody walk the street carrying a gun, no! I know people that don't have enough sense to handle a gun. If you had to carry a gun all the time , just to feel safe, then we would be living in a messed up world.
The right to own a gun, yes, it called the second amendment.

This show was ahead of its time. Unfortunately it couldn't be remade today hence we'll have to be content with reruns.

Thanks for sharing ... It was a hilarious episode. But your edit only leaves it as eerie, too true.
I think freedom has come to the forfront, in observing who does have it. For example Wikileaks is allowed only in Switzerland and Iceland. Hence, so is Freedom of The Press.
and Swiss citizens are armed at home by law, which keeps them much safer than we are here.
Everything he has spoken of has come to pass. Too sad.
Thx for this.

I'm all for the second ammendment, 'cause I loves muh guns, and I know the day is coming when I'll really need them. But I have to admit, that if I were in the same room with Archie Bunker and a gun, I'd shoot him in the fuckin' eye. Fascist prick.
Does anyone see the conditioning that is given in this piece?
1. Crowd laughs at the term International Bankers like they don't exist
2. His mispronunciation of words inferring he's an idiot and what he says is foolish.
3. His saying an armed citizenry is a safe society is laughed at as an outlandish suggestion
4. Anyone who watched this show, knew Archie was a racist, suggesting anyone with views on issues such as this, is also a racist.

They laughed about this 30 years ago but they aren't laughing now.
