Eucalyptus: Friend or foe? 19/09/09

Environmentalists are sounding an alarm over what appears to be a mad rush to get rid of all Eucalyptus trees. Environmentalists say such a move will destroy the ecosystem and water catchments areas, yet those advocating for the destruction of the trees say they are a danger to the environment.

The US has made genetically modified eucalyptus trees. They have a gene inserted so that they can grow in colder climates north of Florida. They are about to begin testing. They are determined to end all life on earth.

Politics..... Trees help create rain. They are a big part of the water cycle. And, if you remove the trees, the water temps will go up in the river, and also the river will fill with silt. If you study the issues on Kilamanjaro and in Amboseli, the lack of trees are the biggest issue. On Kilamanjaro, the people cut and burn the trees. Amboseli's issue is elephants bringing down the trees.
