Is it just me or dos Mr Deity remind you of a skinyer George Lucas?
-
Excellent traditional grip with that pencil! =D
-
hey, George Carlin got it down to 2 :D There should be an episode in his memory!

Thanks for posting this; it's one I haven't seen and it's hilarious!
I always thought the Ten Commandments should have been the Divine Dozen though, since 12 makes for a much more efficient number base with even halves, thirds, quarters and sixths - take that, base ten!

Fire up the bush, that one really made me laugh, gods very own "Red phone".

Haha I actually love the 'take the lords name in vain' explanation, its funny how much more coherent and logical this explanation is than the literal religious one.

To be fair, in the original Hebrew, this is clear. It's "do not carry the name of the Lord in vain." Meaning exactly what is explained in the episode. The sin is unforgivable because it tarnishes God's reputation. The irony, of course, is that the Bible then has God ordering genocide, the murder of homosexuals, misogyny, etc... Clearly, they didn't get it.

You're right, a lot of things are lost/ misinterpreted in translation. I guess what I was getting at is I know people today who get very offended when you say 'Oh my God' or something of the sort when its basically harmless vs. people who use God's name to justify their dangerous actions, and it's 'ok'. Anyway thanks for reply.

So frighteningly true. And the funniest part is that Jesus talked about that exact thing. It's my favorite chapter in all of the Bible --- Matthew 23. Oh ye blind guides which strain at a knat and swallow a camel. That chapter should be the entirety of scripture.
