@dvsk89 cause prior to 2007 when atp decided to ruin the masters , all the masters series safe for canada and cincy had best-of-5 finals and we didnt have to wait 4-5 months for a grand slam to see an epic final.

This was one topsy turvy match full of momentum turns, was a great match could have been a similar match to there absolutely classic match in Rome if Fed could have perhaps taken that 4th set tiebreak and go into a 5th, great to look back on.

federer landed too short forehands on crucial ocassions. he should have won this match...up a break in the third, up a break in the fourth set tiebreak.

Also, it was because of Nadal and Federer's unreal match in the 2006 Rome Master final... after that match, both Nadal and Federer decided to withdraw from the Hamburg Master... the ATP, unhappy with that decision, and trying to avoid this to happen again, decided to put away the best of 5-set finals in the Master Series...
