the 30s is my favorite Hollywood era, the real Golden Age, and if anybody epitomized 30s Hollywood its Joan Crawford. i love her at this age, in these settings, this style, these films. Ahhh, just wonderful, really the perfect foil for the Divine Garbo, who was Hollywoods queen in those years, and Norma Shearer, who was MGMs queen. All three of them being at the same studio really brought out the best in each other and the filmakers working with them.

@GeorgeGrover You should hear Ann Blyth, who played her daughter, Veda, in Mildred Pierced, talk about how beautiful she was and blue her eyes were. Too bad there aren't more color photos of her when she was young!!

This woman has got to have the most beautiful eyes ever!

@TNviewer01 @ 0:35 she's gorgeous. Why would anyone pile the make up on as we saw in her latter years. It always seemed to me that she forgot where her eyebrows were and eventually was one step away from a uni-brow! I always wondered why she couldn't keep from going out of the lines on her lips! They were just fine the way God put 'em on there in the first place! Go figure...

Joan Crawford looked pretty in her pictures

when joans contract was sold to columbia, harry cohn (columbias head and notorious for bedding "his" girls) called joan in for a "meeting". joan walked in and said "put your dick back in your pants harry, youre married and were here to talk business". LOVE that story AND it worked, harry admired her guts and gave her good roles...what a WOMAN!...her and bette davis were great in whatever happened to baby jane; that "rat on a platter" scene is PRICELESS!

a true movie star
Unfortunately nowadays, mention Joan Crawford and most people think "Mommie Dearest" or "Wire coat hangers!!" She was a fine actress, and an amazingly beautiful woman. Her bone structure, those eyes, and her mouth were all just made for the camera. Joan in the 30's was on a par with Garbo and Dietrich as female beauty personified. This was a wonderful video.
