Seb and Damdai share their method to finding advantage and disadvantage in Mortal Kombat. Important takeaways:

Hold up during blockstun and recovery to easily see who can move first, and by how much
The same string ender can have different frame situations coming after different strings
MK9 lab mode sucks because you basically need a training partner to learn anything like this

  • this is raidens main-advantage for noobs i think... cause the "rocket" can exploit all the tiny delays of other chars.... BUT for that, ALMOST all of Raiden Basic Combos delay him when failed.....

  • Great awesome Vid guys! But is there anyway to do this without a friend to come play with you on the same xbox?

  • @Jink5 P1's d3 vs P2's dB = P2 gets back pushed out of Tip Range after dB-ing 3 to 4 of P1's d3-ing.

Btw FADC guys, in the demo, Scorpion's 1 & 11, SZ's 1, Cage's 1 & 11 has big advantage. Blocking Jab Pokes or getting hit by Jab Pokes = same.

Single Jab or Jabbing advantages: Can't be crouched against, can't jump away, cant be interrupted & slightly back pushes, enough to give a lot of B damage to rival & make them angry. I dont know about MK9 disc, but its in the demo, it's BADONG, it sux.

  • Just Frame Block! nice.

FADC guys, how about using d3 to test frame pokes.

I havent played MK9 disc, but in the Demo if my d3 hits, I then d2 uninterrupted.

MK9's d3 gives lots of frame advantage & it back pushes dummy rival so little from Touch Range that the dummy rival losses before getting out of Tip Range.

When getting hit by d3, Jumping out is 1st option, since B damage. In the demo, Scorpion's 3 would often interrupt randomly on tested timing.

The downside of d3-ing: gives meter to rival.

  • @TheWil1991 this is why ur free

  • Something I've yearned for for years and personaly am yet to find in a beat em up is an online training mode, where I can jump in with a friend and practice without worrying about my win/loss record or rankings, or being limited to the length of a round.

  • @TheWil1991 they actually made a game that takes skill to master, and even more skill to defeat the masters themselves, which is what games need these days, not games that will hold noobs hands and give equal chance for everyone, thats just boring. A fighting game isn't worth playing if you cannot utterly destroy your opponent with no chance of winning. That is all.

  • @TheWil1991 its not cheap and it doesn't spoil the game, later as time progresses, you will eventually learn that only people that understand and study the frame advanges and practice using them with tactics you've developed(like you say trial and error) over time with whatever character you choose to use to their full potential.

Take UMK3 for example, I can easily stream an infinite combo off of a first hit with half the character roster, if you don't know how to do this, you will lose, fast.

  • Nice training there, but what to do if you dont have a Partner beside you? How to train such stuff alone?
