This is the first experiment with thermocouples. I demonstrate how thermocouples work, and i measure the temperature of a lighter flame.

  • would it work to subtract the ambient air temp Mv from the multimeter reading? Or does the temp. of one leg of the copper joint have to be directly measured?

  • @guitarlips1 exactly, you need to sub the ambient temp. visit my site to read detailed theory how can you do that. the link is in the info box (right under the video)

  • Thank you for your teaching on thermo-couplers. I'm a inventor here in Abbotsford, BC. My expertise is in the joepipe technology. It may possible to develop the joepipe into a type of super thermo-coupler, as it is possible to heat various dia. copper pipes to 1, 500 F. By adding a iron pipe into the air-propane feed, this should provide the other side of the thermo-coupler. Should be able to heat the junction to create a potential temp. difference of 1, 200 F. Vid to follow.

  • thank you sir this is so useful

  • great video really helpful i understand thermocouples!

  • thanx sooooooooo much
