Christmas shoppers will be reminded of the safety messages as they go about their business in Gwynedd and Anglesey.
From the coming weekend through to Christmas, people shopping at certain stores will have their attention drawn to the TV screens, which will be relaying a host of safety tips.
The DVD, which will run on a loop system, is being piloted in the two counties, with a view to spreading the word for future initiatives across North Wales.
PCSO Norman Hughes explained: "Members of the Community Safety Partnership are always seeking different methods of communicating with the public in respect of crime prevention messages and advice."
PCSO Hughes visited local electrical outlets and met with several managers explaining what he had in mind and asked if they would be willing to display the DVD during the Christmas period. This was well received by all those who were approached.
"The DVD is intended to raise awareness during the busy period when people are easily distracted and should not raise the fear of crime for those celebrating Christmas," PCSO Hughes said.
The bilingual DVD will be displayed as a trial in various electrical stores and supermarkets in Bangor and Holyhead.
It will also feature in a number of council buildings within the counties.
