"No I Can't," by the Mountain Goats
Off of the 1993 EP, "Transmissions to Horace," hi-fi version available on "Bitter Melon Farm."
Let me know if you have any requests.

you bought me some chocolates.
and you bought me a rose.
and you brought me a paper bag.
and you brought me a lamp.

thank you for the chocolates.
thank you for the rose.
thank you for the paperbag.
thank you for the lamp.

(now i have everything i need.) x4

you brought me a sofa.
and you brought me some books.
and you brought me a filing cabinet.
and you brought me a panasonic dx4500.

thank you for the sofa.
thank you for the books.
thanks for the filing cabinet.
i don't know what i..
i don't know what i.. ever did without it.

(now i have everything i need.) x4

you came by. and you came in.
and you let the wind in.
it must be cold outside.
we stared out, through the sliding glass door.
but i'd forgotten what we were looking for.

thank you for coming by.
it's nice to see you once in a while.
thanks for the coat i forgot to mention.
i've been freezing in here.
i've been freezing in here.

(now i have everything i need.) x4

  • tell me how to take ads off and ill do it

  • you posted this on my birthday. anyways. why is this song such poor quality?

  • @sweetsugar1622 this is a lowfi version from "Transmissions to Horace." There is a hifi version available on "Bitter Melon Farm" but i personally enjoy the way this one sounds over the hifi version. if you'd like, i can upload the higher quality one as well.

  • @mecantbreakdance

    it really is, isn't it?

  • @sublime327 how do you mean?

  • I'm sure this song inspired the Cold War Kids song We Used to Vacation, just saying.

  • Now I have everything~~~~

  • This has to be one of my top favorites from him. I love just how it can be taken how nothing matters with love. Or love can make you so sick that nothing matters anymore. Mountain Goats... Y u so beautiful and perfect?

  • damn the lo-fi version is so much better

  • @gutlesscutlassupreme This is one of the first mountain goats songs I learned. Just go to Google & type in Mountain Goats wiki, poke around on there most of the tabs are available. I'm sure john would be happy to know people look up to & want to learn his music. Now if someone knows the tablature for Seeing Daylight I'd gladly cut off my left foot for it! :)
