@8NCLI8 Women who become street prostitutes do so because of a drug problem, or because the streets are a less violent home than where they come from. "They turn to drugs to make life tolerable."21 the first part is saying they were addicts b4 becoming prostitutes. but my originally claim was that they are addicts.

@8NCLI8 well 1st of all i didn't say WHEN they became addictes, I just said that most of them are. and it says,"Many prostitutes are high school dropouts, come from poor and abusive homes, move from place to place and are alcoholics or drug addicts." #17 i do agree that it should be legal though.

@me25422: Actually, the quote on that site "Most prostitutes became drug or alcohol addicted on the streets and became more trapped in prostitution to earn money to support their habits." clearly implies that they become addicts AFTER they become prostitutes, not the other way around.
I think it's fairly safe to assume that would be less likely if prostitution was legalized and separated from the drug/sex syndicates and crime groups which run it in the US now.

since its legal to do for free, i dont think it should be illegal if someone wants to pay for it, as long as they restrict it (no underage prostitutes, mandatory STD testing, both participants are willing, etc)
