This is a review of the Springfield Armory M1A, which SA calls the MA9102. It's the standard model with the walnut stock. It should provide some useful information iif you're considering buying one, or if you are just interested in them. I tried to cover the overall aspects of the gun as best as possible, within 10 minutes. The M!A is available in many versions - different stocks, barrel lengths, and has additional sighting options.

I just got this rifle, so a part two may be added later that would be a follow-up showing me shooting it at the gun range, and how it feels to actually use it. There will be many more things to add at that point. I'd recommend getting one if you can, since M1As have a great reputation, are very useful, and are a well made rifle. Buy one if you can find a model you like!!

I may post some additional gun review videos as time permits. Hope you enjoy this one. Thanks for watching!

  • Does the standard have a chrome-line barrel

  • @TheDoviverse Don't think so - haven't read that in the SA specs.

  • Some old m14s all fresh from the box that were never used are coming over from Korea (or vietnam I forget) so if looking at 14s, prices should drop maybe around spring/summer time.

  • @OmegaAlpha6 Are you thinking of the M1 Garands from S. Korea that the state dept blocked from being brought back to the US? I don't think full auto capable M14s would be sold to the public, were the older Garands would be sold through the CMP.

The white house/state dept does not want even old Garands to go to collectors or sold through CMP programs. So I can't see how they would allow M14s to do so.

  • @OmegaAlpha6 I researched this again and saw updates were the WH reversed it's earlier decision and is now is willing to allow the M1 Garands back in. However the M1 Carbines are still not approved to be re-imported. Not final, but the WH seems to want the Garands to go only to veterans of the Korean War. I guess CMP would handle sales if they do indeed come back to the US. In an election year who knows what they will do. Perhaps another reversal if obama wins reelection - to keep them out.

  • @nashi55 I meant to say Korean War vetereans or their families.

  • The only thing about this rifle that I don't like is that the reciever is made in Brazil.

  • An M-14 with a pistol grip and a 30 round magazine would kick the AK's ass.

  • @juanmooreknight Yes I have seen them as well. Should be a great shooter - less worries with that tough stock! I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Glad you liked the vid - hope it helped provide some basic info. Thanks for your service!

  • Hello Nash: I recently placed a deposit on an M-14 with a composite stock, I was fascinated to see this option and wonder if you or anyone are familiar with them, I will take ownership as soon as my permit is updated since I had a change of address, and chomping at the bit to go to the range with "Her", thank you for an excellently narrated video and I will save as favorite.

Safe and fun shooting- George USMC
