Should I be editing Lunar right now?
No, no I really shouldn't. I really should be watching my Physics lectures. Or at the very least if I'm editing, be working on MEP parts or videos for people's wish lists. But alas, I really wanted to edit Lunar. For I guess I'm having sort of minor mid-term blues where I'm just like "ugh school le sigh", and I wanted to edit something to cheer me up. And I was going to edit Amy/Eleven for obvious reasons, but nothing I had started with them seemed to be working at the moment, so I was like, "what else do I love? Lunar, Lunar will cheer me up always ♥"
And so for all of you that are like "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?", this is Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. Also known as "Allie's favourite game of all time". I would edit to it more often if it were not for the supreme lack of cutscenes which make it difficult to. Which got me to thinking while I was making this how I might just actually die of happiness if there was ever an anime series, or even a like, four episode OVA made of Lunar (SSSC not EBC, I would be pretty indifferent towards an EB OVA), because that would increase my clips by about a million and oh all the editing that would occur. Unfortunately that will probably never happen, but I can dream right~
Um, what else? Lunar is wonderful. It in itself proves that cliches can work fantastically well if done right. I could go on forever about it but I don't think that anyone wants to hear me ramble. Just if you ever get a chance to play it, DO IT. For it is spectacular. Unless you're playing the GBA remake... or Dragon's Song... The GBA remake is at least halfway decent but Dragon's Song you should really just run screaming from. XD Eternal Blue is okay I just like Silver Star Story loads more. Because of the AMAZING CHARACTERS AND PARTY COMPOSITION OH MAN!
Okay, if you don't care about my Lunar rant, just stop reading here. The rest of this description will be me explaining why I love Lunar's party composition. XD
So you know how in a lot of JRPGs you have the main two or three people that are actually relevant to the plot, and then the rest of your party is composed of characters who were important for one plot element, but really do not connect to the main plot overall? And yet they continue to journey with you even after you've completed their plot point even though they have /no/ reason to because they're all like, "I want to come with you~" and I'm like, "NO WHY THIS MAKES NO SENSE"? Lunar doesn't do that (at least SSSC doesn't, EBC does, which is a major part of why I like SSSC better~). During the beginning portions of the game your party is in a constant state of flux, with characters coming and going as it suits them. WHICH MAKES SENSE. And it's wonderful. And so by the time you hit the (aproximately) eight-ten hour mark, and the main quest of the game is truly revealed and you get your final, true party, all of your party members are /invested in the quest and have real valid reasons to be there and their way of life is endangered and that's why they're going with you/. Not some "I'm going to go with you for no reason oh hey look the world's in trouble guess I should fight for that trololol" kind of thing. And I really, really appreciate that in a game, and in any story, for that matter.
/end Lunar rant.
