  • They failed to mention the importance of counterflashing. That roof to wall flashing should have been counterflashed. They also didn't mention anything about the proper way to flash a brick sidewall. One thing that people don't realize is that the flashing is not warranted by the manufacturer of the shingles. A flashing failure means the shingle warranty is void due to improper installation. Always use new flashing! Spend the money on flashing and save on water damage repair.

  • What an idiot everything he's doing is wrong, home owners please dont believe this garbage...

  • @TommyPickle74 I agree 100%, I'm only a carpenter with a limited amount of roofing skills. DO NOT INSTALL THAT LAST ROW OF SHINGLE. Dab high quality roofing sealant over the face nails.

  • Do not put that piece of shingle at the top of the flashing covering the apron up. So many times I have seen this and it bucks , and holds water. I definately dont agree with what the manufacturer recommends. They might make the product but people that do it have perfected the install.I have 18 yrs. installing shingles. How long have they been doing repair work? Because of these inaccurrate videos , homeowners think they know more than a roofer does. Thanks alot!!

  • I'm installing my own roof can I save the current step flashing where it 's in good shape?,will lining it up with the new shingles be to difficult? my concern is the siding has only about a1/2 inch gap to the roof,it's probably nailed through the siding, cramming new metal up there would be a pain!!(BTW I'm a 25 yr Tile Stone Contractor)

  • GAF roofing, do some quality control on who you give master Elite status to. I got ripped off by one. Won in court but it did not pay for other damages. BBB gave him top rating only because hes been a member so long.

  • the fuck? 3:45 "shingle up to the wall and seal against wall". No . 2 rows under the dormer flashing. no sealing required unless theres a hole in the angle of the flashing. No need for caulking or tar in any of this video. I am a certified Gaf installer but i do not agree with some of these methods.

  • Thank you for sharing this.

  • I like your series, very helpful, BUT stop waving those hands around so much, it's distracting, not to mention it's too much like a god damn hip hop music video!

  • This is on the "bait and switch" contract I signed, for the leaky roofing and wrecked skylight.

unamed!!!!! Construction Company is a GAF “Master Elite” contractor.

Gaf roofing people............do you check these Master Elite contractors???

more "We have included an enhanced GAF “Systems Plus” warranty in our proposal (see enclosed information) at no additional cost. These warranties which cover the entire roof system, includes labor and is transferable should you sell your home."
