Harrison flying a P200 Landplane in Portugal

Thank you to everyone for your time and endless support. This is one of my flying lessons with Gerry Breen.

I thought that you guys might be interested in seeing me 'H' (Harrison Nall-Smith) winner of the 2007/8 Manuela Breen Scholarship flying a Pioneer P200 3 Axis Landplane.

For those of you who do not know me I am a 15 year old teenager from England. I found out about the Microlight Scholarship in 2007.

I sent my CV (resume) to Gerry & Karen owners of Algarve Airsports Centre and found out that I had won it. At first I could not believe that I had won the scholarship!

Portugal: The Gerry and Manuela Breen's Algarve Airsports Centre is a British microlight training school that was founded by Gerry Breen and his late wife Manuela in 1985. The School opened for business on 12th March of that year.

The Algarve region of Portugal was chosen in order to offer microlight pilots and students the opportunity of flying in one of the most stable weather regions of Europe.

The P200 is a low wing side-by-side seat, dual stick controlled monoplane. This relatively new aircraft has been designed with the beginner in mind, being very forgiving yet giving extremely lively performance that leaves many conventional aircraft standing. The aircraft has very light control forces normally only found in very advanced more aerobatic type of aircraft. In response to the terrible disaster in Haiti it is hardly surprising that many of our pupils have wondered how we can respond to such an awful tragedy of nature. Obviously, we all need to pray for all the tragic people involved. However, these poor people are also in urgent need of our financial assistance.

One of our pupils, Harrison Nall-Smith, has already decided to undertake a parachute jump. Harrison is a regular flyer of microlites and, therefore, we all know that he is willing to take risks, which is a polite way of saying that he is rather insane, but we still love him.

It has been proposed that Harrisons tandem jump should be sponsored and that all sponsorship money collected should be sent to support the ongoing needs of Haiti.

Pupils and staff are being encouraged to donate by sponsoring Harrisons parachute jump. However, there may be some parents who would like to fill our sponsorship forms by gaining the support of other family members, friends and work colleagues. Should you require a sponsorship form or, better still, forms, please ask your child to collect one from either the Upper Site or Lower Site offices.
