Tiger Woods, golf's top player, was seriously hurt in a car accident near his Florida home early this morning, Florida highway patrol reports.
Woods, 33, was pulling out of the driveway of his Isleworth, Fla., home in his Cadillac Escalade, when the vehicle lost control, striking a fire hydrant and then a tree.
No air bags deployed, police said, which meant the vehicle was not travelling above 33 mph.
The Florida Highway Patrol also reports that alcohol is not related to the accident.
Woods was taken to hospital in nearby Ocoee in serious condition. But the Orlando Sentinel reports that an employee at Health Central Hospital said Woods was not a patient at 2:30 pm today.
Both the Orange County Fire Rescue and the Orange County Sheriff's Office received calls of the accident around 2:30 a.m. this morning. However, the FHP did not report the accident until just after 2 pm today, the Sentinel reports.
The crash remains under investigation, the FHP says, and charges are pending.
No details have been released of Woods' injuries. His website today said he is on a two week break from tournament play.
but they say the airbags didn't explode..!!
