This is the South Austin Karate Knife team representing the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame. We go to the Alamo the first Saturday of each month and perform the song Deguello, Bowies lament. We have knife throwing competitions and raise money for the preservation of the Alamo. I have tried to find a letter from Bowie written on March 5th ,1836 but although almost every man there wrote to their loved ones that evening Bowie's, if he wrote one, has never been found After many years of research with no results I decided to write it myself. On january 25th of 2009 I wrote this song for Jim Bowie to his wife Ursulla who had died of Cholera in 1834 . I wrote what I hope Jim would have written about the men who were to die with him the following morning. I would like to thank Cliff Awol Hill and Dandy Dan Mink for their guidence and help with the song. I hope you enjoy the kids singing this song and would like to invite all knife throwers to join us at the Alamo the first Saturday of each month. Dr. Winders the curator of the Alamo and Steve Catfish Jackson and his wife Pat were our special guests this time, and we did raise a very good amount from donationsfrom the tourists. They enjoyed watching the kids compete in knife throwing and singing their song Bowie's lament. I have many things to be thankfull for and this is my way of giving my students knowledge of the history of Texas and so i can give back to Texas what Texas has given me, a wonderful life every day I have been here.
