  • Lord have mercy on us,there is no more country like this anymore. How quick we forget the true sound of country music.

  • Old Hank was a staight arm player and one of the finest pickers to ever step on stage, Wayne

  • Carl Butler had a song called "The White Rose" that had this same exact tune. Does anyone know which one of these songs might have come first?

  • Like no other and no one else like Hank one of a kind ..Great singer ..

  • @mrfiddleman More: There are a lot of festivals and gatherings going on to play and honor real country music. The one yesterday was one of several this past year. A lot of great pickers live in Montana and people here still dance, still love the old country & those of us who are keeping it alive. Last month they had so many people at the 100th Month Jam in Grassrange, Mt they had to turn late comers away. It's a town of fewer than 100 people in the middle of nowhere. The music lives.

  • @2koolbenny1eye You might be surprised how much real country music there is once you get out of Nashville and LA. I spent yesterday playing at a "Live Music Gathering" in Roundup, Montana. Some of the best pickers and singers in the state were there, guys with a rap sheet a mile long for serving time in bars and honky tonk bands. The incredible Jimmy Goodman was there on steel, Louis Mikesell & John Wahren on lead, I handled most of the back up fiddle a lead vocals. 200+ dancers. All free!

  • @mrfiddleman All the fiddle players you listed are great . I would rate Benny Martin as good or better then any of these his work with Flatt and Scruggs in the mid 50s is unmacthed.,

  • Brilliant.... VK7HO

  • @hnksnw I always wondered what year this Martin was...I knew it was a Pre-war Herringbone..and WHAT A TONE...Hank always had great sounding Martins...
