  • In my mind SDM surpasses all these films. There were actual kids from the slums that gave such fantastic performances. The youngest Jamal is from a middle class family and he gave such a natural delivery. The film captures the essence of a chaotic city that I have never seen before. The film tackles so many different themes beautifully..poverty, betrayal, love, longing, greed. It exposes harsh realities but yet leaves you with a feeling of euphoria when it ends. This is the best film.

  • Sure, it has UK financing, UK director, UK screenplay but that's one aspect. It also has an Indian co-director(Loveleen Tandon), all Indian cast, all Indian crew, Indian score (A.R Rahman). Danny said there were only 10 people from UK. This is a global film...let's not put labels on this. Let's acknowledge the awesomeness that happens when there is an eclectic mix of influences. It's not bollywood, it's not HOllywood, it's not UK. It just is.
