Sam Hamman sold out to the Norwegians and it was all downhill for Wimbledon FC from there. Egil Olsen was appointed manager and introduced new playing systems such as zonal defence which the players didn't understand and didn't want to understand. The fierce never say die spirit of the club and players did die and by the time Terry Burton took over for the last two games the damage had been well and truly done. This was Egil's last game in charge and although Bradford's first goal (a penalty) was an appalling refereeing decision the overall result was probably the right one on the day. It was April 30th 2000 the beginning of the end of the "Dons' run in the Premiership which had seen some magnificent performances. I have to say it still hurts to watch this even after all this time

  • MK Dons have to my knowledge handed back all honours to AFC. Most ex Wimbledon supporters wholeheartedly support AFC. The day when the clubs meet as eventually they will now AFC are a league club will be a big day indeed with a score to settle and a depth of hatred that goes very deep indeed

    thanks for watching

  • Shame.. what happened to them.. however the real club is doing well (AFC WIMBLEDON)

  • Really does hurt. A game i never thought i'd be able to watch again certainly didn't watch it later that night on MOTD. Going all the way up to Bradford and getting done by that first decision still angers me now. The worst i've felt as a Womble. Then within two years we were 9 divisions below. Gutted. Fuck the Franchise and Long Live AFC Wimbledon.

  • you can't blame an ENTIRE relegation on zonal defence, can you? Can't help but feel the players were too reckless...

  • @SuperSuperEyes MK Dons no longer claim any of the history of Wimbledon FC, including their cups like they used to. The right to the history I believe now goes to AFC Wimbledon...

  • linesman is s***

  • @zanderain18 how so if they are no longer in wimbledon ?

its like what the spurs chairman wants to do with tottenham when you move a club out of the area they come from they shouldnt be allowed to keep there name because they wouldnt be the say club now i will probley get some people calling them selfs mk don surporters and that they are the real dons but they arnt no more and i cant wait to see them play afc the real dons

  • Fuck Egil and Fuck those MK slags... I never looked at football the same way after what happened. Painful stuff. COME ON AFC!

  • Egil Olsen may be a good national manager, but he blew it in Wimbledon...

  • Hudds fan...always keep an eye on afc wimbledon...hate mk!

  • I know it must be a shame for you guys, but dont take it out on MK, take it out on the owners. Egg his house or something :)
