It sounds to me like a 12/8, I agree it's harder to play, just because it's a slightly different tempo, and you have to force your body to slow down.

12 inch floor tom? of do you just use a tom as a floor tom? and how much low end do you get out of your heads compared to other heads? im thinking about buying some controlled sounds.

All my toms are rack toms actually I just use them as floor toms, I Also use bass drum mics on my floor toms to pick up more of the lows.
