"The Song is You", composed by Jerome Kern, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, was written for their musical, Music in the Air in 1932. Frank Sinatra was to record it many times and in different styles. This version was recorded for RCA in Hollywood, CA on Jan 19, 1942. The arranger and conductor was Axel Stordahl, who worked a great deal with Sinatra in the 1940s. This version, which I believe, was the first, is my favorite.

  • Those days with the Axel Stordahl arrangements and orchestra were the very, very best for Sinatra. Superb.

  • @bbcisrubbish I think that many people overlook the many wonderful recordings that Frank Sinatra made with Axel Stordahl. I have uploaded many and will continue to in the future.
