  • K. This is what I think. It's a cover song, performed very well, very professionally. It happened to be a Christian Christmas song, and it happened to be sung in a church. There's nothing wrong with that. It's good music, that many people obviously enjoy.

  • I think better or worse is a matter of opinion, not theology. Personally, I like the old and the new. So long as the theology doesn't change, I don't get too hung up on the methodology. There's still one God and one Jesus, and he died for ALL of us.

  • We already have. Just because something gets "updated" doesn't mean the message changes.

  • "If you understood the true meaning of worship" if that were so, then why don't we all get undignified like King David did and praise and worship the Lord our God! The music we play has been given to us by the Lord through His Holy Spirit to reach those who will not step foot into His House, but through this venue He has given us, may. Let's not religion them right back out the door.

  • @gary00333 I also watched the HOTEL CALIFORNIA video played at LIFEChurch and feel it is totally inappropriate for this kind of setting, and if the song's message should draw young people, what does that song say? I just think a line has to be drawn. You, however, have not met me, and yet you judge me the same as you feel I have judged. (By the way, people can be drawn by old hymns, too, it's the Spirit doing the drawing.)

  • @gary00333 He does use music, etc. to get our attention, but whether a song is playing or not, if God's presence is not there, what is?

***I need to say, I have met T.A. that sang in the Little Drummer Boy video. Personally, I believe he is a good person and has passion for what he does. If the Holy Spirit draws individuals through his talent, thank God.

  • @gary00333 Emotion is important to show sorrow or sadness over our sin, but let's not forget what Jesus Himself said, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him" (John 6:44) The Holy Spirit's work is to draw men to God. He does use music, etc. to get our attention, but whether a song is playing or not, if God's presence is not there, what is?

  • @gary00333 I apologize for offending whoever. But I would rather offend man than God. I understand where you are coming from regarding the ministry changes in the "post-modern" church. However, one thing has not changed. The message of any song is not enough, lest it be just an emotional response to music. ALL music and lyric affects us emotionally, whether secular or Christian. What's sad is when people think they have been in God's presence when it was nothing more than that emotion.

  • And the guy that is drumming (not trent) is my drum teacher!!!

  • THIS IS MY CHURCH:))))))

  • @MegaDeception101 I challenge you to research how many people were saved the night of that 15 minute "concert". Then I challenge you to research how many people devoted their lives to Christ after the message. I will even help you with the math...start with ONE. That one was the most important person in my life on that day. I stood because of that night, ready to accept the Lord, not because of the music (which was great) but because of the message and the Lord in my heart.

  • MegaDeceived - you are. This was designed to bring glory to Christ and it really does.

  • One day eyes will be opened to the truth about the enemy's works. Being deceived means you don't know you're deceived....I'm not an old fogey either. I like contemporary music, and have been a worship leader in a contemporary church. But I have learned where the line draws. Do your concert somewhere other than the House of God!
