  • awesome vid! gr8 music!

  • thank bubba, we like quiet outdoor music!

  • Thanks for that.

Question. If you are attacked by a black bear, then where should you direct your attacks, and is mace a good idea?

  • 1) Where to direct attack- god question. eyes? nads? 2) What to attack with? removable fingers? 3) mace (actually we use red pepper spray) is getting to have a good reputation, especially in some areas where firearms are not allowed. If used properly the red pepper spray might work. The problem is, when the bear comes sailing over the top of some ten fot tall brush and lands on your face. Hard to spray with mace at that point.

  • Noted.

Do they really make surprise attacks like that?

Maybe it would be best to go out there dressed like Shredder from ninja turtles, with those bladed forearm guards.

    :)

  • yes,if you surprise them they will surprise you. walking down trail, momma bear on one side, baby on other, you in middile. yikes! This is why noise makers are good. they move out before you get there, hopefully. for noise I use a metal EMS fuel can, filled with pebbles and quarters, louder than loud, not a natural sound. my friend jimmy brings eleventeen guns, like Tuco Bandito. so far I been nice to the bears so they been nice to me. I tell them, in calm voice - "I am a vegetarian."
