Queen - Seven Seas Of Rhye
mimed performance recorded for BBC's TV show "Top Of The Pops"
broadcast 21. February 1974

This is a very rare version, all other versions I have seen are much higher generation and fully black and white, this one has a part in color. If somebody has a full color version or a lower generation copy, please contact me !

This recording is not even in Queen archives (well they probably already own a copy of the off-broadcast recording), not released officially

  • @Springamatul Look at the upload date. Now we of course have a color copy :-)

  • OK it looks like there is a FULL color copy in the Queen archives

  • Why It Is Not In Colour ? It's 1974, Right ?

  • Yes, it's from 1974 exactly as it's written in the right side

  • @pittrek81 ok thanks this was 38 yrs ago unbelievably.

  • But it just got into colour during this duration lol.

  • BBC was on strike when this was shot, they made this performance in the weather forecast studio <3

  • simply awesome

  • @pittrek81 True. But not to say it cannopt be done.Just is harder to find obviously there. In the recent BBC doc Queen:Days Of Our Lives displayed some colour footage from this very performance,as well as colour on the other performance of this track which is well known about. Then there is the recently discovered Dave Lee Travis copy of a SSOR TOTP performance from 1974,also in glorious colour. Was also a partial Killer Queen clip found on a umatic tape from the estate of Dick Emery, tad shown ther

  • There will never or will there ever be another front man like Freddy he new how ting and his presents on stage was always brilliant.

  • As the BBC have done with some Dr Who episodes, a preservationist / restoration-ist (sic!) could take this good quality (sharp) B&W version and combine it with the colour version (take only the colour signal from that tape) and come up with a pretty accurate restoration. Hey Brian! Hey Roger. You've got a little money - get in touch with these guys and make it happen!
