  • so... judging by the way the inside looks, could i essentially take a 5th gen logic board out and put it into the body of a 6th gen and vice-versa?

  • @SpyceySalad - No.

  • so could you take the faceplate from a 6th gen and put it on a 5th gen?

basically like externally switching a 5th gen into the updated 6th gen!

just add firmware and voila? but the thing is, are the 6g faceplates compatible with the metal bodies of the 5g's since they should be the same body

  • @PinoyPogiman - No, the faceplates are not compatible.

  • how do u make it so the ipod can close all the way again?

  • @realcampusman - Verify all the cables are properly seated and everything is positioned properly. Once everything is correctly in place the back should close properly.

  • i thought the ipod 160 gb was the 7th gen.?

  • Credit card work effortlessly to open the side with a single swipe.

  • Very comprehensive mate. Helped a lot for a person who tried it for the first time. Cheers, Vic

  • @PowerbookMedic i searched it up, plausibly. it is compatible.

but a slight modification is needed.... searching google. the two faceplates compared in picture. the 6th gen has a fully lined tab. the 5th gen has a tab with a gap inbetween.

you'd need to grind off a gap inbetween the screw hole, and the other side of the tab to make it fit nicely.
