@sunny1shara That's true, we all have accents. Beyond that, there are regional accents. But the real problem is that Americans are very impatient when they have to struggle to understand someone in their own country. I'm good with understanding foreign accents, but no one else I know will bother. On top of that, once a person says they are from Nigeria, people won't be bothered because they fell they are all crooks and scam artists.

@Theaustincarl I'd guess that it has more to do with you being black, than your accent. People cannot just "lose" an accent.

@nickclumsy Yes, I agree with you. People come to the US and work hard to relax their native accents so that they will be understood. If you can't be understood, it will be difficult to function (in any country). It definitely will have an impact on their life in the US if they cannot be understood.

first of all, evrybody has an accent... "english" whether american or british is also an accent so 4 her 2 say she doesnt hv an accent, it's clear she has no idea wat d word "Accent" means.

Girl gone with your bad self. What annoys me is that don't Americans or British people realise they have an accent too? Like what the hell!

Great vid! I was born and raised in th UK and have a London accent that i hate. All the other black kids would say my accent was too posh or white. Dumb cos they sound as British as i do! My parents were conscious about us having good british accents and a lot of Naijas here in the UK are the same. I love the Igbo accent and i can do it quite well though my mum says don't get stuck talking like that! Wish people would stop judging and putting down accents.

When I moved to UK, I sped up my Naija accent and it came out American. When I speak Yoruba, my accent is correct..lol! People have been know to double-take when I bust out in Yoruba. I am at the point I want my Naija (English) accent back! Just because I don't have a UK accent. This week, 6 people asked me where in America I'm from! It's bad!
A friend of mine in University used to strength her Naija accent during presentations so they would think her English was more amazing! lol!
"Am I suppose to clap for you like ah congrats, aunty? aunty no accent"
I love watching this video!
Rep it to the fullest! Naija style!
