Indeed this beautiful song should be performed much more slowly. Don't be afraid that it would be too slow. The result is incredible. I know 2 examples of recorded versions, one by Roberta Alexander and pianist Tan Crone, and there is an old recording by Fischer-Dieskau and pianist Michael Ponti. Try to get hold of them! There's also a set of cds with all Ives songs (NAXOS), but I've never heard these cds. Keep singing Ives, he deserves it, and you have a lovely voice. Need I say more? lol

I can understand why you would think that. I have not heard another version of this song on youtube or anywhere so I have nothing to compare it to. I do think that it could be slowed down a little, but slowing it down a lot would really make it into a drag to listen to.
