Micro Center Tech Support shows you how to check the AC/DC adapter on your notebook power supply. This video covers evaluating voltage requirements and testing the adapter with a voltage meter.

  • The adapter does connect to AC power but converts that to DC for use by the notebook. In order to verify that the output is correct, the meter needs to be set to the DC setting.

  • One thing this video might benefit from is being more descriptive about which multimeter setting to use for the test. My device is more sophisticated than the one in the video and has multiple DC settings.

  • Why do I have to set the meter on DC? The outlet works on AC right?
