Tango Outdoor @ South St. Seaport Open night 2008.

Tango outdoor at the South Street Seaport open night 2008. Official Host/or DJ's are Ko Tanaka, Trey Parker, Richard Lipkin and Rick Castro. Rick and/or Trey usually do the announcements, Ko Schedules the Dance Instructors (contact any member if you are interested in Teaching or assisting with this milonga in some capacity).

This milonga is now in its 9th year (1999). The history is;
Ko, Yardiel, Sanae, Karen started this milonga after Yardiel suggested this location as an alternative to a different milonga that was way uptown & indoors from them. Ko was the first Dj and continues today, he also came up with the name. Ko, Rick and Trey (plus Dj Guy for several years) have been instrumental in keeping this milonga happening every Sunday since its first year. The rest of us all stepped in at one point since to maintain, help, assist in some needed function to continue this great milonga.

In 2004 we created a committee to insure the continuity and excellence of this beautiful summer milonga for all here in NYC, tango dancers from around the world and visitors to learn of its joy we feel it offers to all.

Now in 2008 the managing structure of the South Street Seaport has changed and as everyone are having more & higher expenses. Facing greater financial burdens are now requiring certain proticals & regulations to be followed along with fees for any use of the pier.
