In a Stunning Turnaround, McCain Finds His Vehicle!

July 29, 2008 WNN -- ABC news's love affair with John McCain continued into the Fall season when the then candidate McCain came back from the dead (with the considerable benefit of the networks deciding that the No.1 issue on the minds of the the American people was no longer the war but a redux of 'it's the economy stupid.') Unfortunately for the millions who tuned in, enough time has not yet elapsed to erase the memory of ABC's scintillating debate that spent the first 45 minutes deconstructing Rev. Wright minutia. Such arcane matters as torture, the Geneva Conventions, illegal domestic spying, high crimes and misdemeanors etc, being too trifling to mention before the next president.

This installment of Wind Him Up and He Can Repeat Anything That Sticks finds the affable Senator eagerly happy-talking the occupation of Iraq. It would be unthinkable, if more honest, for ABC to admit that they are too afraid to cover the occupation because it is too dangerous, but the show must go on apparently. Perhaps the aging Senator was expecting more softball questions like the ones served up inside the building, or perhaps 2 questions is all he could handle, or maybe he just can't hear that well anymore and gave up before looking too old, but whatever the reason, he soon got disoriented in his abrupt attempt to run away from a clearly less accommodating group of reporters than he found inside ABC.
