Cass and Frankie's Engagement Party, 1990--Part 2

Emma is appalled that Sharlene has to work at The Pelican Club instead of being at Cass and Frankie's engagement party, and says there had to be a better way to earn a living. John says that Sharlene will be home soon, and Frankie adds that the party is just cranking up. Emma balks at Frankie's offer to help Emma with the cooking for the party, saying that Frankie needs to be with her guests. Cass regales Rachel and Ken Jordan with the story of how unlucky he and Frankie were in the casino in Las Vegas, which makes Rachel laugh. Ken says he's not a gambler as a rule. Rachel excuses herself to go and talk to Emma, and Ken says he knows that Cass doesn't hold him in particularly high regard. Cass replies that he would hold Ken in higher regard if Ken hadn't come around asking all sorts of pointed questions about Mac Cory's will. Ken is amazed at how many people in Bay City seem to feel threatened by him. Mitch, who has since arrived with Felicia, pipes up then that he is amazed there aren't more people wary of Ken. Ken asks if Mitch is thinking particularly of Rachel. Cass asks if anyone has seen his fiancee lately, and Felicia tells him that Frankie is in the kitchen, so Cass heads to the kitchen. Felicia tries to steer the conversation to small talk about the sausage rolls and the chef at TOPS, but Ken and Mitch are still tense with each other. Felicia then asks Mitch if he wants to talk to John about his knee so John could recommend a brace or something for playing golf, and she and Mitch head over to talk to John. Rachel returns from the kitchen and apologizes to Ken for not even thinking about Mitch being at the party. Ken assures her there's no harm done.
