@Zureal That thing in the back is a filter so you do not have to change the water everyday and he may live in a place where it is warm all year so he may not need to spend more money on a filter.

@aluetkids True, but then go with a sure-fire-betta-loving-breeder
s :p. All my bettas, if under 2 gallons are usually quarantine (AQ salt treatments in 1 gallon, clean water daily) and have nice and warm water. All other bettas are 2.5 gallons and up, with heaters, or at least have toasty water... I personally, if I owned a pet or fish store, would rather have the money to set up a perfect betta paradise. No bowls, no cups, all tanks :) -
@OneFreedomForever I am certainly aware how and why businesses operate the way they do. however i'd rather pay a little more for quality
-
what did you do to make those weird sighns
-
@aluetkids do you know why pet stores cant have all bettas in 2.5 gallons? it costs more. the cost of keeping the bettas in bigger tanks vs. the price they make them. If you had to spend let's say... 20 dollars of electricity for a betta (heater included) then the betta would have to be higher than that price. Trust me. I wish I could do the same if I were to open a pet store :) probably still will lol.

@mwmt the pet stores keep them like that for temporary time frames and technically they should not even be keeping them in such small containers. Betta need a minimum of 2.5 gallons like monofice466 has already stated. however the temperature should be around 72-80*

what is that thing in the back for????
-
He needs more space and plants as well as a heater to keep water temp at around 80*F. In a tank that small, there needs to be 100% water changes everyday to prevent ammonia poisoning and burns. Bettas are not meant to live in anything less than 2.5 gallons. They live in rice patties, which are huge.
-
@BakaniBoko doesnt really matter how small it is
havnt you see the tanks they live in at the pet store
-
Very beautiful fish. the tank looks kind of small, but you have a filter from what I can see, the water is clear and he does have a plant.
