A short clip of the heater before it was fully assembled whilst undergoing trials. Just to show a few details of the construction. More details here:

  • how do you start the burner without a blower?

  • @Strom63 This is a natural draft burner and no blower is needed.

See my other video: "Drip Feed Waste Oil Heater" to see it being lit.

  • Hi ozzirt, awesome looking heater. I looked for the URL link to the plans/drawings that you mentioned, but couldn't find them. I would really appreciate a link to them. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

  • @rihamy2nd If you click on "Show more" under the description below the video you will see the link at the bottom of the description.

    Cheers!

  • My friend you are a genius. My welding shop will have a cheaper heating bill this year. I usually heat with coal and it's a bit exspensive at the moment. Thank you for sharing this.

  • @TheBeersCold Naahhh,... definitely not a genius, more like a pig headed old prick who only built it, to prove that it could be done to a couple of mates.

Once I found out how well it worked, I was determined to move it into the house where it has now been for 14 years only once being disassembled so I could lower the bottom enclosure.

I've left a PM on your profile page.

  • Thanks, ozzirt. I was viewing your videos on my iPad and the YouTube interface on that is a bit different, I think, than the page is in a web browser. I never did find it on this one, but I watched another of your videos and it had a link to your web page. It's a really amazing use of what would otherwise just be garbage (used truck arts). Ingenious. Thanks for posting.

  • @glumpy10 I'd be very interested to hear how it goes with a water heater.

I have thought about it myself, only the layout of my house is not really suited to it with my hot water system on one side, and my heater 12 metres away at it's closest point, so it would mean having to run a circulation pump. Also I think that it might boil the water and being the house heater as well, I would not be able to turn it off when the water was up to temperature. It would really need to be a separate unit.

  • Great passive design.

I'll be building one of these next for a shed heater. My other burners are way too powerful and noisy although they do crank out severe heat.

I'd like to try one of these designs under a gas water heater with the gas burner removed. With enough flue, can't see why it wouldn't work.

    Thanks for the informative Videos.

  • @amgalanbator I'm sorry, but I do not sell my heaters, however there is a drawing that would help you if you wish to build one yourself, the URL is shown in the first comment.

The parts cost nothing with the exception of some of the plumbing fittings for the oil piping.
