Video of over 200 students protesting inside the Old Arts Building against the cuts to the arts at the University of Melbourne. Due to this occupation students managed to get the Melb Uni meeting canceled, but as usual, no one was willing to talk, and exited through a back door. Melbourne University plans to cut 1 in 4 1st year subjects and sack 140 staff to plug a 12 Million Dollar deficit in the Arts budget, and as part of its Melbourne Model. This coming from a university that posted a 200 million dollar profit last year and who spent over 100 million on an advertising campaign for its new model.
Students were from Melbourne University, Victorian College of the Arts and other Victorian Universities.
