An EXTREMELY RARE, 1976 film-short of a romantic Pas de Deux Ballet to Pachelbel's Canon In D Major.

Dancers: Cynthia Gregory and Ivan Nagy.

May this beautiful film continue to inspire others to dance! Enjoy! :)

PS: Sorry for the over-saturated pink hue of the film! Will work on fixing that!

  • I am touched by all your comments and likes! So glad to know I was not aone in my love of this film and music! :) PS: one of my bucketlist dreams is to recreate this dance (or an updated dance) with a partner! If only...

  • Cynthia Gregory looks like she just stepped out of a Degas painting -- so romantic, impressionistic and flawless in interpreting the music. I recall capturing this on a clunky VCR circa '79, and this film inspired me to give up high school to enter a professional training program for classical dance. Evermore grateful that you found and preserved this iconic and beautiful piece!

  • @AuthenticNavyPeaCoat: Glad you enjoyed seeing this again! And WOW on pursuing a dance career, yourself! :) How did that go? Must have been a wonderful experience! :)

  • Wow, simply beautiful!

  • @brownacademy I agree! They both have such beauty and a languid, natural grace, huh! And just FYI: Cynthia Gregory was 30 years old when she did this. Ivan was 33.

  • On my god....thank you SO much for this. I, too, have been looking for this for years....Cynthia Gregory was my favorite ballerina of the day...her uncle, Michael, was an art teacher of mine at Van Nuys High School and we would often talk about her....

  • Artists and athletes. Thank you.

  • The serialization of images are sublime. They evoke poignancy to the degree that they induce pain.

  • I have such wonderful memories of watching Cynthia and Ivan dance. And then I had the thrill and pleasure of dancing with her many times a few years later. Thank you for the wonderful memories

  • @AuthenticNavyPeaCoat As did I. My children and I would watch this in amazement and joy. Beautiful!

  • For the longest time I thought I had dreamed this ... I saw it something like over thirty years ago, everyone I asked about it never heard of it. Thank you thank you for bringing reality to what was a dream, its as fresh now as it was when I first saw it.

  • I saw this on A&E (back when that channel was more arts than entertainment) back when I was in college in the mid-80s. I have been looking for it ever since. Thank you for preserving and posting this.

(who always thought this was the most romantic film ever--with clothes on!)

  • I remember seeing this a long time ago. It started my fascination with dance. Thank you for posting it.

  • like many of you i saw this in 1976. cynthia loved dancing with ivan. i saw them in "La Sylphide." cynthia as the Sylph and ivan as James. she said that when he looked at her she truly believed he was in love with her. i saw him dance with markarova many times. no one was a more dashing partner than he was.
