@MrRockin714 It kinda depends on your amp. THAT Kenwood is single 4Ohm, so you need an amp that puts out 400W at 4Ohms. The HFX is dual 4Ohm, so you can wire it down to 2Ohms and on an amp that does 400W at 2Ohms. Basically amps that push more power at 4Ohms cost more, but it depends on what you currently have. Note that I don't see many people recommending Kenwood KFC subs, but they might be about the same as the Hifonics.

Thank you so much for this post much appreciated

@wpdjs626 Yes, because there isn't much on the HFX series out there yet, so I figured I'd do an overview for those who are looking for a cheap replacement in a pinch like me. Just so they know, if they're considering Power Acoustik or Audiobahn, they may want to go along with the internet and choose Hifonics instead.

@krizzylovesjb Um yeah if you have the following needs: 1) Need to save money 2) But still want it to sound good 3) And want to be able to throw some serious power to it, then yes you should buy this. I'm sure it will do 400W RMS (without bass boost) all day long without breaking a sweat. It makes my whole car wobble when low-low notes hit and there's a loud vibrating 'BING!' sound when it hits the higher notes. And the middle notes are mellow and musical. GET IT, box is up to you

So im very confused... Whats the difference between the HFI and the HFX of this sub?

@lolhaze12 HFX is newer, slightly better design, more power handling, thicker surround material. Less Xmax, but it doesn't seem to be a factor in power handling and output at all. It does have a slightly higher Fs, which makes it better suited for higher notes (but not by much), but it still hits 28Hz notes like a champ.
