@tblbaby 100% wool is best but I find 80% to be a decent compromise if you're looking for daily wear gear

You ain't jokin brother, wool is king in the cold. Wool is the only fiber that will really keep you warm when you're wet. If you ever have to really live outdoors in the cold, you want wool blankets. Sleeping bags for people visiting outdoors will collect condensation & degrade over time, wool will keep you warm. Blend holds shape in coats for sure.
100% wool is important if you want max insulation & especially performance when wet. I sleep with wool blankets & no matter what, I'm toasty warm.

thanks Md. i was thinking how the soldiers wash them. it would be interesting a video about how to keep them well conserved. who does them cost in the surplus?

@TheMrAlexrj I don't know how much the coat costs normally (I got it free many years ago as it came free with my order of ammo and other surplus goods). I think the MSRP back in the day was about $20

is it wool? did you buy it second hand?
how will you wash it and conserve against moth?

@TheMrAlexrj The military surplus coat is 100% wool.. The pea coat is 80% wool 20% synthetic (not quite as warm but won't deform if I store it without hanging it up properly). I'd have to dry clean them to properly wash them but I could always clean with water and soap and hang up to dry if needed. If properly used I probably wouldn't ever need to clean these coats other than removing surface debris (dirt, mud, etc). Later, MDP
