Dude soooo many games back in the day had amazing soundtracks, absolutely fucking sick metal scores. There are some here and there that have original soundtracks that are noteworthy but are so few and far between it's saddening.
Gaming as far as genre defining is found in more niche titles that you gotta look out for, thing is so many things havve already been done but most devs and publishers fear treading new water and wanna stick with what sells already. FPS overload lol

so true---back then, a lot of the japanese games specifically had many metal/hard rock OSTs
i think the ps2 guilty gear games had the best metal style soundtracks in recent memory. and those games came out a while ago.

i may sound like a fanboy but my excuse on the soundtrack is the halo series is awsome to me

Yeah you're spot on there mate and I can't really disagree with anything you said. It's a weird one for me though because i've been current-gen heavy on my channel for 2 years but the whole disillusionment with modern gaming is starting to kick in big time - not necessarily to the point of me stopping short of buying them but more of thinking twice. Creativity within the industry is lacking and it's definitely pushed me back to retro which in turn has made me (re)appreciate gaming again.

I totally agree with for the most part modern video games suck, especially call of duty it;s the same game every year they don't make big changes they pretty much only change the guns, location. People only care about fps's, I know winning is fun; but why would you play a game everyday for hours just to try to be number one. I to miss the real games of the 1990's, and early 2000's; there's more to video games than shooting people online for hours. However there are some good games like fallout.

I'm really tired of sequels and rehashed franchises. Though I'd love to see a new Road Rash, developed by Criterion. And I'm excited for Mass Effect 3.
I think there are still a healthy amount of great modern games with old-school soul out there. Joe Danger, Rayman Origins, Renegade Ops, Back to the Future, Costume Party, etc. And I'm really excited for Pinball Arcade early next year.
dont forget the Silent Hills made by Team Silent and the Fatal Frame games, makes RE look like a joke.

@1xCloudStrifex1 Resident Evil spawned Silent Hill. I love both, but Resident Evil has a LOT more nostalgia for me. Ironically, I can't stand either the RE or Silent Hill series today...they've both been ruined for years. After Code Veronica RE started sucking more and more....and after Silent Hill 3 it only got worse and worse. It's far too gone to be called RE or Silent Hill in the least, just let them die and rest in peace instead of dragging their dead corpse through the mud any longer.
