On June 24th, 2011, I had the pleasure of opening for America on their 40th Anniversary Tour, at The Britt Festival in Jacksonville Oregon. A few nights before I played this show, Ray Lamontagne played on this stage and got really mad at a fan who yelled out the obligatory "Freebird!" So I started my set with a line or two from that song, just to make a joke and "get it out of the way". This was by far the largest crowd I'd ever played for, probably 1,500 people. America was very cool and invited me on stage to sing "Na, na's" with them on "Horse With No Name". A really great night for me.
