The Lancashire Hodder provides sport with brown trout, grayling and also sea trout in the daylight hours on dry fly; especially after a flood when the water is coloured. This particular pool is also a productive one wherein I have taken numerous double figure salmon in the autumn. This little clip is soundless but it shows the action provided by a small fresh-run sea trout that took a tiny olive imitation.

  • It was in fact a very fresh run sea trout that had clearly moved into the system on recent floods. Easily distinguished from the regular wild browns that I have caught here for decades. The Hodder brownies are usually well marked and rather dark fish with good red spots.
