In 1979 I was teaching my flight student and good friend John for his aircraft instrument rating. We decided to fly his plane from Worcester, Ma to Treasure Cay in the Bahamas via Vero Beach to say hello to my old flight instructor Herbie Longnecker. After several days in the Bahamas we returned via West palm Beach to clear customs up the Hudson River and alongside the World Trade Towers. Not only is John an Awesome Pilot but also an Awesome Physician (Dr John). When I signed him off for his instrument rating he was flying to ATP standards (Airline Pilot)
Isn't it wonderful that as pilots we are able to transport ourselves so quickly to someplace far away, even someplace with a different climate and terrain? Becoming a pilot is well worth all the time and money and effort. Flight instructors are the ones who help others to acquire the ability to have adventures like the one in this video.
