It was easy to give up on this trimmer which wouldn't start no matter what I do. I finally had to order a carburetor repair kit to tune it up. I got the trimmer new for $20 new at a store closing. I'm not always successful when fixing things but I don't give up easily.

  • sounds like fuel lines. change them. then adjust the carburetor richer

  • @pimpinpenz It's a struggle but I got it to work. Thanks for commenting. I took a look at your channel too. Keep making those videos.

  • Fuel leaking out of the line means that air gets in the line to create air bubbles which can stop fuel flow as the air want to rise while the fuel is try to flow down. If you used fine sandpaper to remove rust from the magnet and coil surfaces of the magneto and get good sparks, it should start. Find a flexible rubber hose with a hole wide enough to insert your fuel line. Make D longest sleeve for your fuel line with it, Apply epoxy between the sleeve/ gas tank and sleeve/carburetor connection.

  • @generatorblue I did check the sparkplug for spark but I had never thought of removing rust from the magnet and coil surfaces of the magneto. Next time I get a weak or no spark I will take the trimmer apart to look at the coil. Coils and magnets...mm sounds awfully familiar to a magnetic flux generator.

  • sounds good, I know how you feel when they don't start. I worked on a golf course for 5 years and had many arguments with the weed eaters!! they will make you go crazy and you'll end up arguing with it. -_-

  • @Iseekoutthetruth I agree. Still, I don't want to blame the weedeaters too much as I was kind of abusive with it. Fixing the trimmer is a good learning experience for me. I learned how to check the compression without a compression gauge ( just pull on the darn thing and feel the resistance) and several other things along the way.

Now, let's see if it will start today!

  • @shartne I was going to give up but I thought for $10, I 'd try the carb kit. The metal parts of the carb generally don't go bad although they might require cleaning. The gaskets, diaphrams, and primer bulbs usually go first and they are much easier to replace. As I was saying, they are so temperamental.

  • @Fearlessthinker For my unit, there is a gas line connector at the fuel tank. Make sure that is in its proper position. A new fuel hose would help as they are usually a snug fit where the line goes into the tank. That should minimize the leak. Watch donyboy73's youtube videos, he gives excellent repair advice.

  • Is there a trick to sealing the lines from the tank? Mine leak!

  • mines not starting no matter what I do it has died. for good.
