I wonder what the "F.G." stood for?

@AtorTheFlyingEagle: And so far I rank none with Aristophanes and Moliere, maybe Menander, but I have not read his works too much so far and in general tend more to indulge in tragedy than comedy but since every triad of tragedy had its satyr play in ancient Greek I appreciate comedy as well and therefore lament the prodigal Pythons as they had quite some talent in it but wasted it foolishly.
-
@AtorTheFlyingEagle: Well, just compare the Frogs or Birds of Aristophanes with the Life of Brian and the Holy Grail and if you then see no similarities I cannot make you see them, unless you state specific things which allow a more profound discussion; and since the jests of Monty Python are written your excuse is in vain as the plays of Aristophanes were written for theatrical performances too at first and; and so may have the Pythons had they made more full plays.

@AtorTheFlyingEagle And by comedians, I mean television personalities or even film for that matter.

@FireEyedMaidOfWar I've read all the major plays by Aristophanes and Moliere. I don't see the comparison you are trying to make. The Pythons mutually agreed to call it quits after the last film. That was a 14 year run totally from the time the original show aired in 69 to 1983. Literature and Television are two different creative mediums for which I don't hold to the same standard. What specific comedians do you personally rank on the level of Moliere and Aristophanes?

@AtorTheFlyingEagle: Reads the comedies of Aristophanes and Moliere and then decide if the Pythons should followed their example and become immortal (maybe) or be forgotten by making their vain television jests; besides: By using their best ideas so little they soon ran out of them and so abandoned their art making long before they died while the said Moliere and Aristophanes continued to do so until their deaths; and if you look at the Pythons their afterlife is a said one.

@FireEyedMaidOfWar Depends on what you want. I think the point they were trying to make about comic books from the cold war era being use as anti-communist propaganda is made in this short. What would elongated that to a feature length add? I like the Python movies less because they are concerned with "plot" that it tends to bog down the jokes sometimes. I've always preferred the tv show, where they shined doing abstract, surreal stuff ala Bunuel and Spike Milligan.
-
@AtorTheFlyingEagle: But it would be much more fun if it were! Just look on the Holy Grail, the Life of Brian or the Man turns into Scotsman jest; as the Pythons are best when they arrange their jests on a certain topic.

@FireEyedMaidOfWar This is a sketch comedy television show. It doesn't need to be a whole piece.

3:10 the best scene ever!!! XD
I'm pretty sure the sketch is making fun of how comic books were often used as anti-communist propaganda.
