I have more than a dozen Les Mis recordings and have seen more dozens here in youtube... but nobody comes close to HIM.

@Sieglinde84 I know! It´s probably a bit nasty to say. But others sound, compared to that man, just really weak and unconvincing. Philip is the best Javert yet!

Oh the one and only. I've seen Les Miserables 8 times, the first time I saw it Philip Quast was Javert. The subsequent 7 times I've seen it, every time the poor chap playing Javert opened their mouths, I just shook my head. He is sublime

My idol.. had the pleasure of meeting him after La Cage in London and he was the nicest guy... really down to earth - I tried not to gush too much, but I think I failed. But he stood in the cold and chatted to me for a while, which was really kind of him.

@lilibet12 Ha ha, looks like I rattled someones cage. Philip would have been the first to laugh at what I wrote Lilibet12. Philip and I are related through a cousins marriage and have met many times. He is a lovely guy with a wicked sense of humour. I'll be seeing him again in Oct, I'll pass your comment on to him, he'll love it....especially the Head Monitor part. Take care.

can we not get carried away here? He's got a great voice and he's not that bad looking, but the hair is a bit dodgy...lets be honest. I have also seen les mis 8+ times but I've managed to appreciate the WHOLE cast, not just got hung up on one because of a schoolgirl crush. For goodness sakes its not like he's drop dead gorgeous. He has a brilliant voice. He is I suppose, the best Javert I've listened to, and that's why I go to Les Mis.....To Listen....and to appreciate. So keep your crushes

Philip Quast is for me - the definitive bass-baritone. In my youth I went out with a couple of bass-baritones and when they are good.. they are damned good! I prefer them to tenors. Philip leads the field IMO. He is also chock full of sex appeal and charisma,
