Lee plays beautifully. I like very much the sound of the 9P. I am trying to decide between buying a 9P or spending much more and getting a luthier hand-made guitar.
@momentinpassing When I played the 6P the first thing i noticed was the "suffocation". It sounded like it wanted to be let free. The 9P which i own is loud and balanced. The overtones it produces are very nice. I very much like my 9P spruce top. So i totally know what you mean when you say the 6P sounded like it was being suffocated.
@Clarkorama007 If you're going to practice say, 3 hours a day for 10 years, at $10/hour that's $109,500 worth of time, and perhaps $3000 to $4500 in guitar strings. That's why I'm considering spending plenty. Personally I notice a big difference in the sound quality from the 6p to 9p, like grape juice to wine, but it sounds like its held back, suffocated, to me. Not the playing, the guitar. The 5P has laminated back and sides versus solid wood for the 9P's.
You play wonderfully Lee Jin. I've been playing for 21 years and have seen many players and you have lovely expression in your style. As for the guitars, as you step up models I'm hearing only small improvements in tone and clarity. for the price difference I would probably go for around the 5p or 6p mark. Unless money were no object, but if that were the case I would travel to Spain, live with El Mariachi himself and have him make me his finest guitar ever!
