No definitely not, but I think I found the answer on wikipedia.
Innocence Mission was formed in 1985, and they made a demo record for their local Lancaster radio station - - - the same station I was listening to.
So apparently the version I heard was an earlier version from 1985 or 86. And *this* version is the professional version made a few years later.
Cool.
Now I just need to trackdown that early 1985/86 track
